Apr 15, 2026

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) plays a central role in shaping one of the world’s most powerful regional economies. If Los Angeles County were a country, it would rank among the largest economies globally, with output exceeding $886 billion. As a strategic data hub and economic advocate, LAEDC influences policy, investment, and business growth across the region. Its initiatives have supported over 13,000 jobs and generated billions in economic output, while its research continues to guide millions in funding for small businesses and economic recovery programs.

In this context of global economic leadership, Ines was invited to attend a high-level networking reception hosted by LAEDC to welcome the Netherlands Life Sciences & Health (LSH) delegation to Los Angeles. The event brought together international innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders to foster collaboration across borders in sectors such as healthcare and life sciences, which are among the most rapidly evolving.

Her presence at the event reflects her expertise in supporting international companies entering and scaling in the U.S. market. With a strong focus on go-to-market strategy, partnerships, and digital growth, she engaged with founders and stakeholders exploring how to successfully navigate the U.S. ecosystem and accelerate expansion.

Held at the iconic U.S. Bank Tower, the reception gathered a delegation of 16 Dutch companies spanning medtech, digital health, diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and pediatric care. These organizations are actively exploring partnerships with U.S. clinical institutions, research centers, and investors, making the event a key moment for transatlantic collaboration.

Earlier in the day, participants joined the Global Industry Exchange: LA–Netherlands LSH Business Forum, a roundtable focused on the future of healthcare innovation. Discussions focused on how digital health and artificial intelligence are reshaping clinical practice, and what it takes to translate innovation into real-world patient outcomes.

Another major topic centered on workforce development. Leaders explored how education systems, industry stakeholders, and government institutions can work together to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals and close critical talent gaps. Investment was also at the forefront, with insights into how Southern California’s dynamic ecosystem can help international companies scale and access capital.

The Netherlands delegation showcased a diverse range of cutting-edge solutions. Innovations included antimicrobial technologies designed to reduce infection risks in medical devices, advanced diagnostic tools improving early detection of cervical cancer, and immersive 3D platforms transforming medical education. Additional solutions demonstrated how augmented reality can support therapeutic care, particularly in tinnitus management.

The alignment between innovation and real clinical application was clear, reinforcing why Los Angeles continues to attract global health leaders. LAEDC’s broader research underscores this importance, with recent findings showing that economic disruptions can impact up to 82% of local businesses, further highlighting the need for resilient, innovation-driven ecosystems like those represented at the event.

Ines’s presence at the reception reflects her ongoing commitment to supporting global founders, investors, and institutions seeking to scale impactful ventures. By engaging in conversations at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and investment, she continues to help bridge international ecosystems and unlock new growth opportunities.

The event concluded with strong momentum, as attendees expressed interest in building long-term partnerships and advancing cross-border initiatives. More than a networking reception, it marked a meaningful step toward deeper collaboration between Los Angeles and the Netherlands in shaping the future of healthcare innovation.
